The workshops led by Joerg Widmoser are based on his extensive international experience in worldwide concerts and countless workshops (including Jazzworkshops Erlangen, Jazz Strings Philadelphia, Fiddle Camp San Diego, Musikakademie NRW, and many more). Here, aspiring artists and music enthusiasts are given the opportunity to gain insights into the secrets of jazz and crossover for string instruments from one of the most renowned European jazz violinists.
Course Description:
Improvisation and jazz on string instruments, as well as jazz-classical crossover – solos, groove, arrangements, composing, and much more. This workshop provides you with the opportunity to deepen and expand your skills in these areas. Jazz, but also other forms of “world music,” have improvisation as a central theme. We practice ensemble playing, harmony, improvisation, rhythm and phrasing, shaping improvised melodies, and experience the masters of improvisation through listening examples.
Target Group:
All string players (violin, viola, cello, bass) who are interested in expanding and deepening their skills in “a different kind” of string music (jazz, blues, swing, pop, funk, bossa nova, Balkan…).
